Poetry analysis Essay

Even though Mariah Carey song rooftop seems like a normal pop song it actually has many elements of poetry.
Mariah Carey a multi platinum artist was born in New York on march 27,1969.She was the first female artist to accomplish a number one debut. Shes the most successful female artist in music history,She also composes her own music.
Using sound ,images and showing a new perspective Mariah Carey sends a message about how a moment can last forever.
Mariah Carey uses imagery to express a moment in her life. By using touch ,taste and sound she helps the listener have a better idea of the moment on the rooftop.
For example she says "she felt alive" to tell the listener how she felt at the moment in time.She also say she" he touch me so very subtly"to express how it felt when she was touched.She uses taste by saying "he taste my sadness"And uses sound to by explaining when he "whispered the words i love you"These are all great examples of how Mariah Carey attracted the listeners by using imagery.
Mariah carey also uses three poetic devices such as alliteration ,rhyme and repetition to explain the moment on the roof top.
She uses repetition by repeating "on the roof top that rainy night"and every time i feel the need"to explain how important the moment was to her. Mariah also uses alliteration by using "pounding" and "resounding" and uses rhyme such as mine and tine.
Mariah also uses metaphors and personification to show a new perspective on how memories should be treasured and easy to remember.
The metaphor
I was twisted "i was twisted in a web of my desire for you"Explains how her feeling were traped in her memories.She also used personification "my inner voice resounding "And my apprehension blew away and started listening to my longing heart"this decribes how her feeling and heart overcame her at that moment.She uses these poetic devices to give a new perspective on how little things and your feelings should be remembered forever.
Although rooftop is just a pop song it uses three main poetic devices to give a strong message.
The song grabs the listeners attention by using great alliteration and repetition.It brings clear images of the rainy rooftop on that November night .And therefore comparing her feelings to "twisted webs of desire.
This song helps you pay attention o sounds and sights to remember event in your life.

The two talented singers Beyonce and Rihanna are todays most popular female artists.The question is which one is the best.
When i asked some of my class mated which artist they felt were better some though Beyonce was the the better artist rather than rihanna.
For example mierra stated that "she can sing dance and act"also Ruby said "Beyonce has more natural talent and shes been around longer.
Othes thought Rihanna was the better singer.
For example asia replied "Rihanna is more classy with swag"i also asked shantel and she told me "Rihanna be on her chill Beyonce be too hype.
There are many different opinions on each individual because they both are talented performs with strengths and weeknesses.

Animal Farm
Although animal farm appears to be a simple fairy tale in reality its a satire of a difficult period in Russian history.
Animal farm appears to be a simple story about animals rebelling, its actually an allegory written by George Orwell to connect to the issues in Russia .It was written in 1945 to criticize communism and dictatorship.
In animal farm the way character respond to stories has a strong connection to their ability to survive.


Squealer takes stories that happened and twist them in his own way.
One example squealer twisting stories is the story of Boxers death. Squealer says the "van had been previously the property of a knackers and had been bought by a surgeon and it had not been painted over” He also claims he was with boxer at his deathbed.
Another story that squeaker twisted was how Napoleon was responsible for the windmill. Snowball fills the animals with lies that the "plan snowball had drawn on the floor of the shed was stolen from Napoleon’s paper". Finally squealer persuades the animals that the pigs needed apples and milk. Squealer says they needed the apples and milk to "preserve their health". Also "milk and apples have been proven to contain substances that helps the well being of a big". There for squealer twist stories to benefit his self and to survive.

Boxer lets the stories make him by listening and obeying Napoleon order. Boxer always says, "Napoleons is always right” Boxer works harder even when he had just recovered from an injury.
For example after his hoof was still healing he refused to take even a day off work. He also made it point of honor that no one knew he was in pain. Boxer was lead to believe that snowball was responsible. Boxer replied by saying "but he was wounded” Squealer persuaded Boxer and then he responded "If comrade Napoleon says it must be right” Boxer also believes that he would go and be able to retire but he was given to the knackers. For example Boxer says” He looked forward to the peaceful days that he would spend in the corner of his pasture. He also intended to teach the rest of he alphabet for the remainder of his life. Boxer lets the stories and lies make him which lead to a tragic fate.

Benjamin did not make stories nor did he believe in them. Benjamin did believe that boxer was taken to a sergeant. For example Benjamin says, "fools ,fools do you not see what is written on the side of the van” Trying to alert the other animals of the lies being told. Also when it was time to vote for Napoleon or Snowball Benjamin did not side with neither. For example "he refused to believe that food would become more plentiful or that the windmill would work" Finally when squealer changed the commandment Benjamin did not believe the lies.” Benjamin nodded his muzzle with a knowing and seemed to understand but said nothing. Although Benjamin did not master the stories neither did he believe the stories?

The ability to understand stories has a major impact on survival in Animal Farm.
Boxer squealer and Benjamin had different understanding of stories. Boxer believed every word, Benjamin did not believe and Squealer was able to manipulate the stories. All these differences affected each characters fate.
Since stories are so powerful society must be aware of how they interpret them.

Gabriel Channel also known as Coco came from a humble beginning and an unhappy childhood.But little did she know that she would become the 20th century most prominent designers.Channels designs were based on the simplicity and elegance.She introduced relaxed dressing and influenced modern day fashion.
The historical problem was womens were still not equal to men and one way they were not equal was their clothing.Women were starting to do jobs that men were usually expected to do.Women were expected to wear dresses corset and not casual clothing.

Through the 1990 and 2000 Karl Largfield kept Chanles name alive and well after her death.

The long term change that happened is the new fashion expressed the new status of women. Women started to enter a variety of careers and new ways of living.During world war 2women took over mens jobs and the traditional corset disapeared.The development was influenced by the new attitude of women.

In animal farm the animals accept Napoleans lies due to the issues.They are frightened,unintelligent and squealer persuades themwith fast talk and purasion.
Napolean scares the animals by controlling their rationa and using the dogs to keep them from speaking out.For example Napolean said whoever did not participate in the volunteer work would get their rations cut in in half.Another example of napolean frighting the animals is by having the dogs "growl"at any one who debated his ideas.
Secondly the animals also believe napolean lies because they are unitelligent .For example when the animals were given orders they "they didnt have any thoughts to go angainst what napolean was saying.Another example is whenthe pigs changed the comandments they were not aware of the changes because they couldnt read.
Thirdly squealer is able to persuade the animals to think and do whatever he wants.For example squealer persuaded the animals to think that Napolean came up with the idea to bulid the windmill.Also another example of squealer persuading the animalsis when he beging to blame snowball foe every incident.
In conclusion Napolean uses many methods to opress the animals.

Coco chane whos real name is gabrielle chanel was a very creative and strong woman.Coming from a very poor background,she was still able to make a change in history.Going from having a small hat store to have a revolutionary movement in fashion and in woman and their rights.Her clothing was seen as the liberation in woman.She mixed women and me clothing together so woman could be equal to men. Having a good reputation for being independent and stylish.Coco chanel to me made the biggest impact in fashion history and womens history.

The article"the beauty magnet"focuses on how coco chanel's damages her reputation by having a relationship with a german nazi officer during world war 2.She closed  her business and was out of the spotlight until 1954.At the age of 71 she made a comeback and was welcomed with opened armed. Even tho europe felt her designs werent very revolutionary americans embraced it more than ever.Once again she was at the top of the "fashion ladder".

This article helps my research because it shows me how much of an influence chanel had on the commom people ad in the fashion industry.To be able to make an action that she knew would damged her reputation and still have enough confidence to keep on fighting.Her clothing wasnt just viewed  as fashion in those day.It was viewed as the enpowering of women.

Conflict:The conflict is that martin luna brother has been murdered by a gang.And now hes being hunted by the want for evenge.Its effecting who he is and who he wants to be.The point of view is third person.

The author connel values equality for three reasons.First connel makes zaroff the bad guy in the story.By making Zaroff the bad guy that shows the author is against Zaroff's ideas,and against liberty.For example:the author gives Zaroff the characteristic of"pointed teeth"making him more of a scary character.

Another reason why i believe the author is for equality because he shows the effect of what happens without equality.Without equality and rules people take matters in their own hands.For example Zaroff felt he was better then the sailors because he was stronger and wealthier.Zaroff didnt feel he was equal to the sailors thats why he felt no shame in hunting them,He saw them as the "scum of the earth".Finally the main character was against zaroffs ideas.For example he thought what zaroff was doing was wrong,in the passage he says "what you speak of is murder"Inconclusion" Those are the majorideas that show that connel is for equality.

The article is in third person and it explains how designer coco chanel great ideas and fashion inspired designers like; miuccila prada,jill sande, tom ford, and helmut long.Coco chanel couldnt afford the newst fashions so she created her own clothing.Using fabrics that are normaly worn by men in some of her work.Her clothing was all about the liberation of woman,considerind she was a feminist.1920 -1950 herwork was well know and soon she became apart of the "establishment"WWhich she used to hate BUT even though she was apart of the establishment she still had a "spit of vinegar"in her attitude.I 1923 she was the first designer to create a perfume .Obviously coco chanel made the hugest break through in fashion because how ideas and work is still alive in the 21 century.She is the reason why woman can wear jeans and a shirt and still feel femine.her work is still in honor and worn buy the biggest celebriries.What an acomplishmnet.

I chose designer coco channel as my nhd topic. I chose her because i felt that in that time period women were treated unfairly and the way they dressed did not satisfy there style and creativity.

coco channel was all about the liberation of woman.The way, 75 years ago, she mixed up the vocabulary of male and female clothes and created fashion that offered the wearer a feeling of taste and sense of style that overlap with today's fashion.

A change in America starts with the next president.
The two out of many issues that Americans are facing and that I believe is important to the election is health care and education.
Health care is important to the election because there are millions Americans uninsured or underinsured because of medical cost. Education is also important as well because knowledge is key and the foundation to a positive country and a positive future. And every one should be able to have good education and be able to afford it as well.
Obama’s Stand on Health Care

Obama wants to see a universal healthcare coverage system through federal subsidies. He wants to make sure insurance companies cover all who apply.

He is willing to create quality, affordable, and portable coverage for every American. Also wants to lower cost of heath care by modernizing the U.S health care system. He is creating a new nation wide health care plan to all Americans. Guaranteed eligibility no American will be turned a way for health care.
John McCain’s stand on health care
John McCain wants to end exemption for employer based insurance.
Wants to create tax credits to help people pay for private employer based insurance.
In addition wants people to think of individual responsibility that will lower the cost of health care. He offers to work with governor to cover uninsured groups. He wants a greater variety of health care that will match people needs. And want to create a health care savings account making family in charge of what they pay for.
Obama‘s Stand on Education
First Obama doesn’t want to send another generation of Americans to failing schools.
Further more wants to solve this issue by funding schools to help meet testing standards.

He also wants to establish early childhood education, as well as lowering the dropout rate. John McCain Will allows parents to move kids out of their failing schools. He offers more money for harder working teachers and less money for less hard working teachers. He opposes raced based affirmative action for colleges and targets federal financial aid and needy students.
Why I disagree with John McCain
I disagree with McCain strongly on his ideas for health care.
First he wants families to create savings account so they could manage their money. I disagree with this because having a savings account for health care still wouldn’t solve being able to get quality health care portable health care and affordable. And I don’t know how more managing of money people of America could do with the housing crisis, gas prices and health care rising. I think people have managed their money enough just to keep their homes and get to work every day on limited amounts of gas. I think creating savings accounts is a waste of time because the main issue is getting quality, affordable health care.
Why I agree with Obama on health care
I agree with Obama because his solutions are the same as what he talks about in his speeches .He is honesty trying to make changes. He want to create a national health care system, he wants to modernize health care so it can become more affordable .He also wants to make health care universal. He wants to create changes not differences.
He also wants to make it so no one gets turned down.
Why I disagree with John McCain on Education
I disagree with john McCain because he opposes raced based affirmative.
I believe raced based affirmative should be allowed to create opportunity of a good education for all races. I disagree with the idea of parents being able to pull students out of failing schools, because that isn’t the only solution. Better funding and better teachers is the solution.
Why I agree with Obama on Education
First I agree with his focused on test scores witch show he cares about the basics. And the most important issues in the school district. He wants to lower the drop out rate and make sure kids are getting their education. He stands for race based affirmative and giving different races that may not have this opportunity the opportunity to get a good education. He wants to make college more affordable which is a major concern, by opening an American opportunity tax credit.
I believe that Obama is the candidate because of his stand on the issues that I believe is most important to the election.

today we are making news papers on issues that are effecting our country today.
